Housekeeping Manager Grade 7 / Exempt / Full Time Are you an experienced Rooms Manager with the desire to grow your career in the Housekeeping field?. Due to the continued growth of our Sheraton property, we are currently searching for a Manager to assist with our efforts in this essential heart of the house position. Our Housekeeping Department plays an integral role in the hotel's success and the guests' experience. The selected Manager will serve as role model and key contributor in establishing positive expectations and development for our Room Attendants and Housekeeping Associates. This role is also responsible for completing the daily inspection of guest and public areas to ensure the consistent maintenance of hotel cleaning standards. The Housekeeping Manager will work directly with the Director of Housekeeping in helping select and develop this hard-working and energetic team that enhances the resort experience. Previous experience working in a housekeeping capacity is necessary for this excellent opportunity. Ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of previous management experience within the Housekeeping area of a hotel, resort, or similar venue. Previous experience with hiring and selection strongly preferred. Excellent communication skills are required, ideally with a fluency in English and Spanish. Basic computer skills are also required. POSITION PURPOSE Assist Director, Housekeeping with day-to-day operations. Provide training, coaching, and counseling to all housekeeping employees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AVERAGE % OF TIME 40% Facilitate hiring process, including interviewing, training, and evaluating job performance. Provide ongoing training and development to all positions. 30% Interact with all employees in the Housekeeping Department. Evaluate, coach, counsel and provide leadership support. 20% Conduct inspections of guest rooms and provide feedback to room attendants. 10% Manage administrative duties, including payroll and operating expenses. Other: Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be established from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position. Employees with irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, employees may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings is required. Upon employment, all employees are required to fully comply with Starwood rules and regulations for the safe and effective operation of the hotel's facilities. Employees who violate hotel rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. Physical Demands Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems. • Must be able to sit at a desk for up to 5 hours per day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task. • Must be able to exert well-paced ability to reach other departments of the hotel on a timely basis. • Must be able to exert well-paced ability in limited space and to reach other locations of the hotel on a timely basis. • Must be able to lift up to 15 lbs. occasionally. • Must be able to push and pull carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs. occasionally. • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat and stretch to fulfill cleaning/inspection tasks. • Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and subordinates. • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception. • Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment. • Must have finger dexterity to be able to operate office equipment such as computers, printers, 10-key adding machine, multi-line touch tone phone, filing cabinets, FAX machines, photocopiers, dolly and other office equipment as needed. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Education High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor's Degree preferred. Experience Minimum three years management experience with at least two years in housekeeping management at progressively higher levels of responsibility. Licenses or Certificates Not applicable. Grooming All employees must maintain a neat, clean and well-groomed appearance per Starwood standards.
