Train, supervise and work with all catering and event management staff, in order to solicit and book banquet and catering functions, as well as the planning and execution of the functions. Direct team to solicit new and exciting accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication. Participate in catering sales presentations, property tours and customer meetings. Administer all phases of the catering and events department, including, but not limited to, sales, forecasting, planning, marketing, servicing and administrative procedures. Direct, manage, train and counsel catering sales and event management staff. Participate in daily business review meeting, sales meetings, credit meetings, team operations meetings, and other management meetings. Tour, inspect and monitor meeting rooms and presentations. Oversee divisional matters as they relate to federal, state and local employment and civil rights laws.
Exceptional sales, supervisory and organizational skills, excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word, exceptional knowledge of food and beverage products, pricing and presentation. Ability to supervise, train and motivate managers and employees with varying levels of experience. Knowledge of the complexities of banquet and catering forecasting. Extensive knowledge of meeting room capacities, banquet set-up, audio-visual and any other pertinent details as they relate to function room set-up. Ability to assess/evaluate employees’ performance fairly. Knowledge of hotel and competitive market. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language used in the workplace. High school or equivalent education required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Three years catering sales and event management experience preferred.
